Jeepney New York Reviews
Hands only - that's what 'Kamayan' means Feb 20, 2014
Jeepney is a Filipino Gastropub. Serving Filipino traditional dishes with a twist, bringing Filipino food, often home-style cooking, a modern flair.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, they host "Kamayan Nights". No plates. No silverware. Hands only. The table is covered with banana leaves. Then a row of rice (jasmine white, garlic, or coconut), and based on your order - they topped it with chicken, shrimps, mixed vegetables, fried spring rolls (lumpia), baked rice cake, longanisa (sweet/spicy sausage) and many more! Then you dig in! But with hands only! You need to make reservation in advance though --- like at least 5-7 weeks ahead. Price - expensive, around $45 per person + tax/tips, comes around to $60 per person. If you want to just dine in the restaurant, the ribs, pork buns, bicol express, and chori burger are simply delicious! They also have limited selection of awesome cocktails. The place is loud with great atmosphere, friendly staff, and interesting wall art ;) ![]()
