I visited Saudi Arabia as part of the U.S. Department of State and The Kennedy Center's Jazz Ambassadors Program in 2003. This cultural exchange program sends a small number of quartets out to areas where the United States doesn't have a strong presence. Saudi Arabia is one on the nine countries we visited in seven weeks. The other countries where Egypt,Moracco,Jordan,Syria, United Arab Emirates, India and Turkey.

Unfortunately, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is still very restrictive with regard to tourist visas. In order to discover this part of the world with its terrific landscapes, you need to work there, as I did from 1999 to 2001...
