Great indonesian food Nov 16, 2014
With a group of friends we went to Eindhoven for a great indonesian meal at the Javaans Eetcafe on the Kleine Berg right in the city center of Eindoven. We knew in advance that it would be a great meal since we've been there before. It's gotten to a yearly ritual for us. Rather than choose something from the menu, we let us be surprised by the chef. that wasn't a bad choice. We were served a variety of wonderful dishes and icecream for dessert

The building looks quite small from the outside but besides the seats on the groud floor there's more on the upper floor, just a narrow stairway to get there and the staff also has to use that to bring food and drinks up. On the ground floor you can look straight into the kitchen and see your food beiing prepared. The decor is a bit rock and roll with some motorcycle stuff (passion of the owner) and lots of wooden cat statues, but trust me it looks really cozy
Pitty you can't smell it, this is …
I had to be quick to take this pic…

That must be something Javan LOL. Quite a few years ago when I still lived in Th Hague, we had a tiny restaurant Djawa, run by an old indonesian man. There were menu's but he always convinced everybody with: "Never mind the menu, I will make something better", and he did, always different but always a whole table full of a variety of dishes. Never disappointed us. All the "regulars" knew how it worked with him. I think that the menu's were on the table just for the record :D
