Jan III Sobieski Jan 13, 2014
I've just returned from this hotel and I have nothing but good things to say about it. This is one of the more well-known hotels in Warsaw. Its name evokes only good memories to most of Poles. Jan III Sobieski was one of the best Polish monarchs. He was a formidable opponent on the battlefield (he commanded the victorious army in the Battle of Vienna in 1683) and is a proof that in the times when most of the kings had had dozens of mistresses, there was a king who was devoted totally to his queen. Sobieski loved his Marysienka (he was calling her Astra, which means a Star) truly and above all. Now the hotel's restaurant calls "Marysienka". I stayed in this place because my friend who came to Warsaw didn’t want to stay in a hotel alone. It was a funny experience to sleep in a hotel in my own city! Anyhow, I really enjoyed my stay here. Great value for the money I paid. It is a four star hotel and you get what you pay for. Excellent breakfast both in terms of quantity, quality and choice. You know, breakfast to die for.

The rooms were recently renovated. They are fully kitted out in a way you would expect from a four star hotel. My room was roomy and well furnished. The bed was comfortable as well. Maybe it wasn’t the best bed my body has ever seen but still I think it was better than good. The room had free wi-fi which was really fast. I downloaded a movie in less than 2 minutes! The room was cleaned every day and also had tea, coffee and hot chocolate left in my room. They even replaced it everyday! 2 complimentary bottles of water were replaced everyday as well. The room had a mini bar, a LCD TV and a safe. Anything to moan about. Most of the rooms face the street but luckily my room had a view on the garden. In the winter the view is maybe not so spectacular but still I found it nice. I really liked the bathroom. It was a really good bathroom with the shower that is one of the best I have been in. It was so large that at least 3 people could share it if they would want to. It was cleaned everyday and not a single hair on the floor of the bathroom could be found.

The hotel is not located in the very center of the city but near the major junction with excellent public transportation options. It has a good location super close to bus routes and tram lines with the stops right outside the hotel’s door. Tickets can be purchased from the reception shop or there is a machine right outside the door. It is also only a short taxi ride from the airport. There is also 175 bus line, which goes from the airport to the New World Street (street that leads to the Old Town). It is located a ten minute walk to the Warsaw Uprising Museum (which I would say is a must) and a five minutes bus ride to the Old Town or the National Museum. Furthermore, it is just 2 tram’s stops from the Central Rail Station. Its location provides several options for eating, drinking and shopping around. Really nice hotel in Warsaw!
