Beautiful Jaffa markets and atmosphere Aug 01, 2011
Jaffa is a must destination if you visit Israel and Tel Aviv.

Jaffa is the ancient port city to be one of the oldest in the world and more historical than the modern Tel Aviv.

History saw this village being conquered by many different populations so the place is full of many influences

It's amazing to see Tel Aviv and its beaches from a distance and then go on walking in the narrow strets of the ancient village stopping in the flea market where virtually anything can be found, from old furniture to tv sets to shoes and vintage stuff.

It is very nice to see also the Jaffa Railway Station : it was the first railway station in the Middle East, it served as the terminus for the Jaffa–Jerusalem railway. The station was opened in 1891 and closed in 1948; during 2005-2009 the station was restored and converted to an entertainment and leisure venue.

Walking back from jaffa to Tel Aviv it's possible to cross some fancy new areas with beautiful houses before arriving in the Tel Aviv financial city.

i definitely suggest to stop in one of the bars and taste a local fresh orange juice! it's the best in the world!

This ancient city is a beautiful 30 minute walk along the Mediterranean Sea from the bustling city of Tel Aviv. During this stunning walk, you can feel yourself going back in time to the days long before even Jesus walked the earth. Upon reaching the city, head up to the top of the hill and enjoy the views over the Mediterranean. Look for the egyptian ruins from the era that Egypt ruled the area. A pink church and palm trees will dot your view as you walk onto the Wishing Bridge. Make sure you follow the instructions and make a wish! After that, grab some pita and hummus at one of the small local restaurants before checking out the statue of the whale that swallowed Jonah whole shortly after he set out from the port. Note that the whale is not life size! End your time in Jaffa by walking along the port before heading back to Tel Aviv. They say the rock that Andromeda was chained to in mythology is still offshore. Jaffa is a nice change of pace from Tel Aviv and well worth the walk. Plan to spend at least a good 1/2 day there!
