If you are taking the ferry north, buy your ticket ASAP, so many tourists traveling to Korčula and Hvar, the FERRIES SELL OUT!! When you buy a ticket for the "deck", the seating options for you are a small non-smoking area with about 20 tables with chairs, a smoking "lounge/bar" area, or the actual deck of the ship, sitting atop the boxes holding life jackets on either side of the boat or at the back where there is a little cafe and some open space. I chose to sit outside for the 6 hour journey to Hvar. Lots of people will be suntanning, but beware the breeze from the sea decieves you and you'll end up burned by the end of the trip like most people on my boat. And if you sit on the sides you hear the engine the entire time, which i didn't think was bad, but at the end of the trip it took about a day for my hearing to return to normal. Oh, and don't be surprised if the bathroom is disgusting!! It cost 97 kuna per person for a "deck" ticket. The earlier you board the ship the better your chances are for a good sitting location. One final thing, you are responsible for your baggage while you're on the boat (they don't have a "baggage check") most people just piled there luggage up in any free space they could find and it is left unattended during the trip (we did this but then realized our luggage might walk off at the first stop so after that we kept it close). Bring water and snacks with you!

Thanks for this tip. I'm planning to travel by ferry from Dubrovnik to Split, so I will take good note of all your comments.
