Jacob Lake Overview

Jacob Lake is a small town on the Kaibab Platow. They have some services there and a N. Kaibab Nat. Forest Service headquarters.
Jacob Lake is the gateway to the Grand Canyon (take AZ 67 south) for a nice drive through big ponderosa pines (some areas burnt) and nice meadows till you get to the Nat. Park where it is cool in the summer and closed 7 months a year due to heavy snow. If you are looking for solitude get a Forest Service map at Jacob Lake and you have an unending number (with signs) of good dirt roads with meadows, tall Ponderosa Pine and aspen trees. Admission and camping there is free. Very nice cool summer nights there.
