JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai

GOOD!!!!the place is by the juhu beach which is one of the cleanest beaches.Its got good food with different choices of food.

This was my first trip to Mumbai and being the points collector that I am, I chose my all-time favorite hotel chain, the JW Marriott. The JW in Mumbai is fantastic if all you are looking to do is soak in some rays as their pool is first rate and the property is literally right on the beach. Security was very stringent as expected following the 26/11 attacks at the Taj Mahal. For the business traveler, beware of horrible commuting times due to gridlocked Mumbai traffic. As the hotel is all the way in the north-western corner of the city (a conveniently short ride to and from the airport), a car trip to the southern business district of the city can take upwards of 2 hours if you hit the rush hour just right; plan accordingly. I found the fitness center to be a little behind the times although they have all the equipment you need to maintain while you are on the road. Having said that, it was definitely not the best hotel gym I've ever seen. There were 4 restaurants in the hotel: and Indian, Italian, Cafe (buffet style) and an Asian place specializing in authentic Chinese, Japanese and Thai food. The Asian fusion restaurant was absolutely fantastic - great food and attentive service. The Italian place received high marks for quality of food, but I think the Asian place stuck the "customer-service deficient" waiters upstairs - minus 4 points for poor service. I didn't eat at the Indian restaurant although they source the Indian portion of the diverse buffet in the cafe and it was quite good. The danger of the buffet is that it takes some discipline to not gorge yourself during lunch, especially if you're headed back poolside afterwards!! We used the car service 4 times - 2 airport transfers and 2 business related requirements. The cars were nice, new, clean and were driven by guys that should be New York City defensive driving instructors. To say Mumbai traffic is chaotic is an understatement and the JW car service was superior. I will stay here again if I should ever have to return to Mumbai.
-UPDATE- My second trip back to Mumbai. I have drawn the conclusion that this hotel is in the top 3 of my favorite across the world. It is a happening place with the Bollywood stars on the weekends and is beautifully placed right on the coast looking west across the Arabian Sea. Despite the long commuting times to downtown, I will never have it any other way but to stay here when my travels bring me through Bombay!!
