JW Marriott Hotel Miraflores

Another J.W. Marriott stay and its exciting every time. From the moment I pulled up to the front door and saw thousands of screaming teenage girls I knew this would be a special hotel. By the way, The Jonas Brothers and Demi Levato happened to be staying there; they weren't screaming at me although God knows I deserve that kind of entrance!! If its good enough for The Jonas Bros, the place should be pretty decent, right? Right. With a primo location in Miras Flores, the nicest neighborhood in Lima, fantastic shopping and dining is only a stone's throw away. Plus, you can't ask for a better view. Perched at the top of a cliff overlooking the Pacific, an ocean view room is well worth the rate, as long as the fog stays away. Directly across the street is a neat shopping mall built directly into the cliff face with a mix of restaurants (both chain places like Tony Roma’s and Hooters) as well as some private, fine dining places and small shops. Although the hotel has a great bar but only one restaurant however, like I said, there are many places within blocks of the hotel. As usual, the standard hotel food (burgers, sandwiches, etc...) is very good. The sushi at the bar is out of this world as is the vast selection of Pisco Sours, the local staple. The Lima Marriott also has a gym, which is way above average for hotel gyms. Plus, for the runners, there is a seawall running trail across the street that goes on for miles (I think if you run the entire course, it is close to a marathon. The trail skirts Miras Flores, is very scenic and safe (there are cops and security guards practically on every block). The hotel cars are from a local luxury taxi service with tie-clad drivers in new Mercedes' and the service is remarkably inexpensive and convenient. True to form, the J.W. Marriott once again did not disappoint. I will be staying here again on my next trip through Lima.
