Excelent 5 star hotel Oct 05, 2009
JW Grand Hotel Marriott is really a GRAND Hotel.
Very clean, rich and with majestic decorations, Marriott overlooks the Parliament Palace which has to be seen to be believed (the world's second biggest building after the US Pentagon!).

Marriott is very luxurious and it seems to be the best business hotel of Bucharest.
The rooms are quite large even by American standards, well equipped and with an elegant bathroom.

The hotel has 4 restaurants, a casino, various bars and cafes, swimming pool, spa, etc., very large and impressive lobby with small shopping mall.

The Italian restaurant Cucina has great cuisine, the Championship restaurant is a must for the sport lovers, the Lebanese restaurant is fine (but not totally my taste) and the Cupola restaurant is fit for royalty, with typical high standard Marriott service and impeccable food.

The facilities are excellent and the environment is warm and friendly.

3 weeks ago, I drove a Lotus. My mechanic is my child hood buddy and we went out to do a test drive after he repaired it. These cars are fun to drive but very hard to get in and out. Hey atleast I know I drove one. BTW, my dad was a chef at the Marriott in Houston until he retired. I love all the Marriotts I visited. Definately 5 star in my books. Nice pics

I didn't know where to stay in Bucharest so I just played it safe and anted up the $ for the Marriott. It was the most expensive of my stays while traveling around Europe, but with that said it’s also a top notch property and I cashed in a ton of Marriott Reward Points so this was one of the few properties I actually had to cover out of pocket. I do believe they are much better values in the area, but I found it to be a nice location for just walking around town and if willing it’s also somewhat near the train station (20-25 min walk). It was a really nasty winter this past year so I unfortunately had to spend a good deal of time inside :(

Also, if by chance the English folks I partied with my last evening there happen to read this thank you and please drop me a line should you ever visit the States.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Jason
