Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport Reviews
Adnan Menderes Airport Apr 17, 2015
Izmir is a tourist destination of Turkey. It is located at the Aegean coast of the country which is well-known for its historical sites, beautiful beaches and holiday resorts. Adnan Menderes Airport is the biggest airport that serves this area. The airport is located only 18 km south of the city on the way to Kusadasi. The way to Kusadashi takes about one hour.
Izmir Adnan International Airport is not an old airport as such. The new international terminal was built less than 10 years ago. It is not bad, but not great either . It is a very modern building with very uncomfortable seats. I would not like to stay here longer or overnight. But it's a place to get somewhere, not a somewhere, after all. The airport is very easy to navigate and find your way around. When I was there I had to pass 3 safety checkpoints on the way to the gate. I don’t know why people have to pass all 3. They should check one time but properly. Every gate has own glass boxes where seats are and where you can wait for your flight. However, before boarding the airport staff ask you to leave the box and go back and wait on the corridor and check bags again. It was very annoying at 4am especially that the plane was deleyed 2h 40 min.
The staff maybe don’t speak good English but they are helpful and seem friendly. We cound’t find a place where they store strolleys after the flight, and a staff lady went with us to show the right place. I remember that she called the strolley a baby car.
There are some annoying people that insist to help you with bags, of course not for free. I don’t know why, but they are allowed to pass the first safety checkpoint control.
