Ivy Palace Restaurant Tokyo Reviews
Trendy but unmemorable Aug 08, 2015
Trendy restaurant in a trendy area. Modern and warm layout with wood tables and a mix of indoor/outdoor seating. Seems very popular, especially in the summertime, and reservations are recommended.
We weren’t that hungry and initially only ordered a few salads to share. Portion sizes in Japan are generally small, but even so we were surprised at how tiny the salads were. If you come here hungry, expect to order quite a few dishes and spend quite a bit of money. Even with the generous exchange rate, 2 small salads, 2 small appetizers, and a glass of wine ended up being $80, which was much more expensive than most of the other places we ate at in terms of cost to food.
The food itself was good but nothing remarkable. It felt similar to the type of California Cuisine one can find in Los Angeles or San Francisco. Nothing that seemed truly unique to Tokyo or Japan.
If you are craving contemporary upscale American food in a nice atmosphere with a group of friends on a nice summer day, you will probably enjoy yourself here. But other than that I think there are better values in town.
