Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport (ITH) Reviews
Get with ITH Jul 04, 2011
The Ithaca airport is teensy (consists of a single gate and you only clear security after they’ve called your flight), but still provides all of the accommodations you need. Better yet, I selected Ithaca because it was cheaper than larger options nearby, namely Syracuse or Rochester. A good thing as it provided me with a much more convenient location too!
Your rental car options are a bit limited and you will only see desks for Avis and Hertz. This startled me when I arrived since my reservation was with Budget, but when I asked the guy at the Hertz counter about this absence he pointed to a tiny “Budget” sticker beneath the Hertz logo and indicated I was at the right place. Phew!
One of the usual advantages of a small airport is the convenience of the rental car parking lot to the terminals, and Ithaca is no exception – just walk out the doors to your right and the car lot is right in front of you. Other conveniences include the restaurant, which is unusually expansive for the size of everything else. I ordered breakfast before departing Ithaca and was pleased that they actually brought the order out to my table, rather than making you wait at the counter (my expectation for these cafeteria style venues).
If you are headed for the Finger Lakes, flying right into Ithaca is convenient and possibly cheaper too!
