The Village of Itasca is a small suburb of Chicago in DuPage County, Illinois, United States with a population of 8,302 in the year 2000. Itasca is located 10 miles west of one of the busiest airports in the world, O'Hare International. Itasca still maintains a quaint midwestern atmosphere despite its proximity to the hustle and bustle of Chicago. At the center of town is Wesley G. Usher Memorial Park with a tall-steepled little white church which gives Itasca a charm of innocence.
Itasca has a small downtown business district near the train station at the corner of on Walnut Avenue and Irving Park Road. Irving Park is also known as IL Route 19 and has histoically been a major 2-lane highway between O'Hare Airport and the larger suburb of Elgin. Itasca has reserved significant open space, to include a nature preserve, wetland conservation area and a golf course. The Village of Itasca is located just south of Schaumburg, home of Woodfield Mall, one of the oldest and largest shopping malls in the midwest region. Itasca also boasts a Holiday Inn and a large multi-story Westin Hotel in addition to a significant industrial area and business park. The Willy Wonka Candy Factory, makers of the "Sweet Tarts" brand, is located in the rail-served industrial area near the intersection of the modern Elgin-O'Hare Expressway Tollroad and the I-290 Expressway.

I lived in the Village of Itasca, IL for 21 years under the flight path for Runway 9R at O'Hare Airport. Itasca is a small suburb of Chicago and we used to feed the cows through the farm pasture fence behind our house which is now Goodenough Park. Itasca is probably most famous for the Willy Wonka Candy Factory (Phone 630-773-0267). I attended St. Luke Lutheran Church and School which celebrated 100 years in Itasca in 2007, site of the the old high-steeple church which is an Itasca landmark.

While in the Chicago area on business, I visited my home town of Itasca, IL. I had lived there the first 21 years of my life under the flight path for Runway 9R at O'Hare Airport and now I am travelling the rest of the world. Itasca is a small suburb of Chicago and we used to have a farm with Black Angus cows behind our house which is now Goodenough Park. Itasca is probably most famous for the actual location of the
