Visit the churches (Bacilica) in Florence - they are just as intersting as the museums.
I would recommend that you visit Basilica di Santa Maria Novella with the Cappella de Flilppo Strozzi on Piazza di Santa Matia Novella - it is just a beautiful church! Bacilica di San Lorenzo is also worth…

Went to Italy last winter with the Army to do a ski biathalon and find myself wanting to go back and torture myself again on my own time! Toblach/Dobbiaco is right down the road from Cortina and in the beginning of the Dolomites. Absolutely beautiful little town with no annoying tourist crap that I …

This is a small little town, about an hour by train (about 6 euro 2nd class each way) from Florence. The train station is about a 15 minute walk from the main piazza. The leaning tower is nice but they wanted 15 euro to go up and that wasnt happening. The church is big and very beautiful, and as wit…

A nice way to see Cinque Terre, I went on this daily trip last year, and it was really nice, relaxing and fun.
The boat is leaving every morning during the summer season, and takes you to the 5 villages.
The company I used was this: http://www.navigazionegolfodeipoeti.it/htm/eng/index.php

Rome is scattered with ancient history and McDonalds. It is sometimes hard to appreciate the city for what it once was, since it is now overrun with modern fastfood chains and groups of tacky tourists with their cameras and fannypacks. It is what it is, and for what it was, it deserves a trip.

My girlfriend and i have just returned from Venice yes a lovely place to visit but also very expensive. One way to help keeping your costs down are to stay on one of the other islands surrounding and catch either the water bus or ferry to Venice from where you are staying. We stayed on the island of…

If a good morning depends on a good breakfast, you will never have a bad day in Turin (Torino). An excellent espresso, cappuccino or Moroccan coffee, accompanied by fresh brioches, in one of the many bars and cafes in the city centre is certainly a moment to savour, and it soon becomes a habit. Here…

If you a looking at a great way of seeing the Amalfi Coast in Italy then for a fairly cheap price consider a scooter. We hired a double seater from Sorrento for a whole day and had the best fun in years, it was a definite highlight of our trip to Italy in 2006. The coast road is beautiful and on a…

Bring plenty of water and try and explore …

Just back from a 5 day skiing trip to Falcade in Northern Italy, it is situated in the Dolomites with fantastic scenery and lots of snow.
Falcade has very few pubs, restaurants and shops for a town of its size, we had virtually exhausted all of our eating options after a 5 day stay.
We only found …

Having Venice, Italy as your last port of call is definitely a bonus. It is a stunningly beautiful city with a wealth of things to do and see. After getting off (they call it disembarking or something) the ship and spending 80 Euro on a water taxi (use the water bus or walk), I had 5 days to explo…

There are certain people that can con you for your valuable money! 1 of the scam artists are those that ask to you see your finger, tie a string around your finger and ask for money after their "work/scam" is done. They make a lot of money from scamming tourists like this. Please beware!!!
