Since our flight back to NYC wasn't until 2:00p, my aunt and I were able to enjoy our final breakfast in Rome. Other than another couple, the rest of our tour mates were already at the airport for earlier flights.

Day 2-Venice!
The real random romance came the next day though. Looking out at a canal, I looked up as a tall, blond-haired, blue-eyed, attractive man walked up to me.
“Hello, do you know who you look like?” he asked.
“No, who?”

Again, rising just before the sun, we scrambled to gather things so
that we could get our free chocolate croissants and orange juice before
we left this hostel with terribly uncomfortable beds. Hotel in Paris
here I come! We got checked out on the way to the train station at,
like, 6 in the mor…

Pisa, Italy -› Florence, Italy -› …
Even though the sun was shining when we left Amsterdam, it was raining when we arrived in Pisa. Doesn't matter: we are in Italy!. Our tour guide, madeleine, prefers to say that it's not raining but those drops are liquid sunshine. In our touringcar we are waiting for 20 minutes for one person who s…

We arrived back in Rome just in time to grab an early dinner and head
to the Circus Maximus to watch the soccer match. Tens of thousands of
people had crowded into the ancient track to watch the game unfold upon
three big screens. When Italy scored, hundreds of Italian flags went up
throughout …

2001 was an amazing year for me. I got engaged, I quit my job, I got married, I moved to another state, and I traveled abroad for the first time in my life. What better place to begin than the magical, romantic city of Venice! Since it was our honeymoon, we were sparing almost no …

Having stayed an extra night in Naples has screwed us up a bit. We need to get moving. We have a lot of things to do in Rome. The first train leaves really early. We are determined to be on it. We wake up early, pack up and check out and run to the train station. TO ONCE AGAIN SEE THE TRAIN LEAVING…

Florence
Heavily trodden streets of Florence. Every little corner. Bizzy, buzzy, fizzy.
Like gas in an open bottle of Champaign. Group of tourists following their leaders, who are holding colorful umbrellas (to be easily spotted). And I’m standing in the middle of the San Giovan…

When the plane takes of it is still dark outside. Belgium is sleeping, while I take my run to Pisa. Ones above the clouds everything has turned to black. Than the sky awakens. I have never seen a daybreak as magic as from the air. The clouds below seem to be a floor of marble, or an endless la…
