We had a great evening arriving in some evening weather which was warmer than 25 degrees; we both needed it and missed it, being able to sit outside and enjoy and talk the whole evening was wonderful. I am not good at sleeping but I slept great that night, I woke up around 8 am and couldn’t wait to step out on the balcony to have my first rendezvous with the powerful sun of the south. I quickly went after my camera because I really enjoyed the sight even though we didn’t have a view ov...

My second time in Rome. Still loved it. Lucky enough to be part of the Papal audience. Took the Eurostar to Florence for 1 day. Took a train to Spoleto on my last free day. Had the best meal of the week in that medieval town.

Cinque Terra, home of colourful houses and beautiful vistas

The forecast was calling for sun so we were prepared with bikinis in our backpacks when we set out this morning for our last hike. I met a girl named Nicole in my hostel this morning and she decided to come along with us for the day. We went to Riomaggiore to pick up Marissa, then trained to Corniglia to start the hike. We had to climb up 382 stars to get to the town and then start off towards Vernazza. The hike itself was not too bad, but was the 2nd hardest, only slightly easier ...

Bella Milano! (1)
posted by:
Dec 28, 2007
Our flight to Milan from Amsterdam was short as opposed to cross-Atlantic travel from Minneapolis. It was just over two hours. Soon after we landed at Milan's Malpensa Airport - which would be our base to our succeding country hopping, my wife's friends (Manila and Marianne) were there waiting for us. I could actually see their worries and excitement at the same time. I couldn't blame them, they had to wait longer than expected due to some delays getting our...

Lima, Peru -› Venice, Italy -› ...
Cities at night offer views both beautiful and revealing, showing traits unseen during the daylight rush. Venice at night shows all its unique character, magnificent history and some amazing and distinct sights. Empty squares, old briges, lonely gondolas in the Grand Canal. These are some of the best night photos from my last visit to Venice.

Roma Victoria
posted by:
Nov 08, 2007
It was the 8th of November 2007, we flew to Ciampino to show Victoria the sights of Rome. Travelling from Liverpool we arrived at Ciampino airport in the evening, we had booked a hotel in the small town of Ciampino, the hotel was wheelchair friendly and as it turn out was about the only place in Rome which was, with the exception of the supreb Vatican museum. Travelling into Rome every day on Trenitalia which was very cheap we saved hundreds of euros from the city centre hotels and the cos...

Rome - Part 2
posted by:

From Roman Forum moved onto The Pantheon, which is arguably the best preserved ancient building in Rome, coz of its constant use thru the ages. Standing in front of this structure I felt both intimidated and overhwelmed. Due to the size, structure, symmetry and the fact that something made 2000 yrs ago stood so marvellously, withstanding the test of time. The original Pantheon was built in 27 BC-25 BC by Caesar Augustus’ general Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa to to commemorate the Victory of Ac...

Day Before Class....
posted by:
Aug 31, 2007
Tomorrow is the first day of class and my house decided to take it easy for the first night since I got here.  We have been to every form of a party in this city and it has only been a few days.  There is a local Irish pub, less than a blok away from our place, that is run by a group of Japanese guys that speak Italian, kind of a trip.  Harp Super is amazing.  There are also the half bar, half clubs that dot the city like Astor.  The top part is a bar that is a pretty...

We left the wonderful city of Rome before sunrise. Not that we didn't want to stay there any longer, but I remember our initial plan was to be back in Milan for the New Year, and we only had a day in our schedule before New Year's eve. It was our friends Ariel and a young couple Kim and Mayette who accompanied us to the station that early morning. With our Globalpass and pre-booked boarding tickets in my hand, I recall having to wait for some time at the station for the first t...

Genova is a very nice city, it's funny to walk in the center, looking at the monuments, the shops, to smell the fragrance of the italian "focaccia" and at the same time to look at the beautiful colors of the sea and the "porto antico".The aquarium is really interesting, big and funny: I recommend you to visit it!
