ben gurion airport Oct 20, 2014
Just a quick note on anyone flying into Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport, if you travelling with a family then its fine no problems but if your travelling solo or a few of you and are young of ethnic background then please allow 8 - 10 hours of delay, on arrival they will ask you your fathers name and the make you wait in a room for your first interview, there you will be asked about your family background, then made to wait again, second round of questioning by airport/immigration security will be on why you are visiting Israel if you know anyone in israel or the West bank, then you will be told to wait again, then you will be called in and asked the same questions again, why you are visiting Israel, where will you go, what will you see, will you be visiting the West Bank etc etc. They will check your mobiel so if anyone of you who maybe have some pro palestine thing s on there facebook wattsapp pics etc it is a good idea to delete of your mobile, even better de-activate your facebook account before you leave for Tel Aviv and same with Watsapp, as you can always re-activate when you are through and out of the airport. Eventually after 7 to 9 hours they will ask you the same questions again to try and catch you out, then eventually you will get your visa and of you go.

I have to start by saying that you need to stop listening to the news about Israel and the Middle East. They will tell you whatever you want to hear so that you tune in to their station and help them get money. If they just said on the air, "Everything's great today", would you watch them?

That being said, Israel is very safe. My girlfriend and I went there this last spring, and we had a great time. We never once felt scared for our lives. People were more than friendly and willing to go out of their way to help us. Anyone can tell by seeing me from a mile down the road that I'm American. It's all how you act around these people. There were people in other parts of the Middle East who said they hated the President or the government, but they were so friendly to us.

I even make it obvious that I am a Christian, wearing a cross and such while walking around. That didn't stop people from being friendly. No, it was a great time and you shouldn't let the news stop you from going.
