Luskintyre and Seilebost, must see beaches in Harris Jul 15, 2012
The most beautiful Island i have ever seen and been to, Period. Rent a car and drive through the whole island. Expensive of course as it's a part of Scotland and quite remote. Book accommodation in advance during high season May-August. Do NOT miss out on Seilebost beach, Luskintyre beach and Hushinish beach. Surf waves are clean and sometimes lethargic but good enough for beginners. Internet forecast (magic seaweed) not always accurate.

I camped for 3 nights by the beach at Lewis but not at Harris because of the weather. I went in May so perhaps it would be better if you headed over in August time should you wish to camp.

Like the rest of Scotland, Isle of Harris is Windy, wet and cold. I suppose this is why its beaches are not quite as reputable as those in Thailand. However, if you are into scenic beauty, cleanliness, Gaelic culture and Tweed, isle of Harris is the place for you.

People here are nice, honest and proud of their culture. The older generation (Late 30's and over) mainly speak Gaelic with each other.

Shops generally close at 6pm and all shops are closed on Sundays, no question. They take their Sabbath very seriously.
