Isla del Sol - the birthplace of the Incan culture in the middle of Lake Titicaca. Recommended as a good overnight trip to see the best views of the massive lake. The eight of us agreed to take a trip over to the island after we had all finally managed to get some money out of the bank (…

We woke up early in the
morning to watch the magnificent sunrise in Lake Titicaca. It had snowed during
the night, so the roofs were white and there were children making snowballs.
After breakfast we descended to the local harbor, boated to the Island of the
Moon, visited its ruins and boated n…

It was an early morning wake up in Puno (about 6 a.m.) and after at a quick brekkie in the hostel I met an English speaking Mexican doctor that was going on the same bus as eme. Having someone who could translate for me heading to the same border crossing can't be a bad thing so I made sure I…

Hello all,
I woke up very refreshed and ready to go, in part thanks to the ear plugs and eye mask that have followed me on my trip. The hostal I'm in happenes to be on the main drag coming into town, and even though the 3rd floor front room view is great, it's also right next to a blind corn…

Hola amigos. as those of you who know me are already aware, brought down by the ennui of life in the UK and the NHS, we quit our miserable jobs and flew away for three months to see the wonders of Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. here's a few bits of our adventures. (i started this about a month into the trip but I'll try and write about the first few weeks retrospectively.)

A journey all around the continent, visiting some of the less travelled routes (if such routes still exist and I think them worth trying). The journey ends outside South America, the finish in western Canada.

I'm taking a bit of a break to explore the islands and areas around Lake Titicaca. The lake itself is serene and gentle, and just to be on a boat on the lake is relaxing let alone walking on the magical islands it contains. Los UrosUros is unreal. First off, Uros is not actually…

On Saturday afternoon we got on the slowest boat either one of us have ever been on and floated over to La Isla del Sol (we calculated that you could have jogged faster). When we got off the boat, we quickly climbed the 210 steps to the town on the North side of the island. We hiked around for the …

Our boat made its way very slowly across the lake until we arrived on…
