Isla de los Pescadores or Cujiri is a hilly and rocky outcrop of land in the middle of Uyuni salt flat. There are few buildings that serve as a sanitary places, food storage, some kind of tourist office and ranger outpost. Most of the wood in these buildings is a cactus. There are some huge cactuses on this “island”. Some of the cactus is 800-900 year old. This place is supposed to be part of a extinct volcano, but everywhere you look there are fossils and kind of coral looking rocks. Cactus has very long needles that are not so sharp but looks like they are effective against desert animals.
