If you are heading north and passing by the long roads of Tarlac, it's impossible not to notice an eatery that has ultimately unique structures and perfectly palatable food... The name is Isdaan Restaurant.
The first thing that will surely steal your attention are the Mayan/Aztec-themed, and some giant fish sculptures outside the restaurant. These designs are so amazing that you would even agree that Isdaan could pass for a theme park. Another nice feature of the restaurant is the dining area. Aren't you just tired of the usual dining tables and chairs placed all together inside one roof? Here, you will be consuming your meal in one of the many nipa huts floating on a giant fishpond. There are bamboo bridges that connect these nipa huts which make the entire dining area look like a water village. Isdaan restaurant, of course, doesn't come short in the most important aspect of dining --- the food! The restaurant offers a wide array of Filipino dishes, but I suggest you get their seafood specialties... freshness guaranteed! And while eating, you will be serenaded by Isdaan's homegrown singing cooks and waiters! If you think these are reasons enough to give Isdaan a visit, you haven't read about the resto's main feature yet--- THE TACSIYAPO WALL. Speaking of uniquness, where else can you throw mugs, glasses, plates, or even TVs without drawing nasty stares? According to one of the people who work at the restaurant, the idea came about when the owner was very frustrated one day and decided to smash a few of his plates at home. Realizing that it was a very good way to release one's anger, he decided to spread his methods by creating a little area in his restaurant where customers can release their pent up rage. 'Tacsiyapo' is a kapangpangan term which means "Shame on you!" Quite appropriate actually, since the wall where you get to smash your wares is labelled with different issues over which Filipinos usually get frustrated. Favorite targets on the wall are "5-6!," "Boss / Managers / Supervisors, etc. !" and "Mother / Father in Law!" It is comforting to know that you are not the only one suffering from the same problem. And after all, the best condition to eat is when you dont keep any anger, or angst inside you. Isdaan Restaurant, truly a must-try. |
