I guess it's a matter of opinion and it also depends on the type of traveller and peron you are. Me I'm an outdoor person so here would be my top 5.
1. Cliffs of Moher + The Burren. Seen as you will be in Bunratty it's a short trip. Take in the Castle and Folk Park while there to. 2. Galway, and Connemara. The scenery is pretty amazing out there. If you look at my Day tripping blog you'll get an idea but even the photos don't do it justice 3. The Aran Islands. You can do it in a day if you get the early ferry. However the best way to see Inis Mor would be on bicycle so an over night stay would be recommended. 4. The Ring of Kerry and all the south west. Again, it's a little like Connemara but worth it and Killarney is a nice town. 5. Kilmainham Goal. It tells you a lot about the history of Ireland and is a must see if you are in Dublin. You can use the City Tour bus to take you there and it will take you to other attractions in the city. I wrote a review previously on it for someone. Like I said, it is all subjective, because off the list above are Blarney, where you can kiss the stone. Newgrange, a megalithic passage tomb older than the pyramids, the giants causeway a volcanic rock formation on the coast of Antrim, and places like Glendalough and Powerscourt. Picking 5 is hard. Enjoy your trip. |

Within 20-30 minutes drive off Dublin are the Wicklow mountains.. Once you drive up there, its a fantastic opportunity to see - "Absolutely Nobody". Amazing how so many hills are uninhabited and yet so close to one of the popular capitals in Europe.
Enroute you will pass the world famous Johnnie Fox's pub - www.jfp.ie Enjoy Ireland!! |
