Our whirl-wind trip to Ireland began with a one-night stay in Dublin. Upon arriving, we discovered that my luggage was missing, so naturally I had to go out and buy a completely new wardrobe in case my suitcases didn't arrive by the time we left the next day. It was in this manner that I discovered Grafton Street, Dublin's shopping capital, and fell in love. (While my father was still trying to get used to the right-hand drive car that we rented, we drove onto Grafton Street...

Dublin is a quite nice place! It's pretty big, but fortunately doesn't seem to be so. It looks like a good place to live. This is our second stay in the town. We came from Derrylin in the early morning, went to the airport, left the luggage and then went back to the city for a great day. We visited first the part around Conally Station, Abbey Street and O'Coennell Str. and then we went over the brigde to the southern part of the city: Temple Bar, Trinity College, Dame str., St. Stephans Green...

I guess there is this thing about being a June bride for girls. I don't know, I'm a typical guy and really don't pay attention to these kinds of thing. Naturally there was no tour event planned for today, just one very nice wedding. I almost even cried....but I didn't. So enjoy the pictures.

Well... yes, it´s been awhile and man, do I have stories. Some good, some bad, some ridiculously awful, some just... different. To say that I have incredibly mixed feelings about Barcelona would be the understatement of the century... It´s going to take me a while to get all my faithful readers caught up, so I´ll separate all my entries. For now, I´ll just start with Ireland.
After my last entry, I went to Dublin, Ireland for a long weekend. My travel partners were two of my gi...

I had to wake up early to check out. Ate breakfast alone again in the
"restaurant," which is an old church turned into a cafeteria-ish
setting where I ate my free toast and cereal. Yay for free. I had to
get them to hold my bag for me, though, which was a confrontation that
resulted in me getting hit on by the hostel guy. I guess it's because I
look Irish. A lot of other people here are really pale with freckles,
too, which made me really happy.
Today I did a lot of walking... I wen...

~We took the 'swift' ferry run by Irish Ferries, from Holyhead to Dublin. I booked the passage online at home before we left. While speaking to Brit Rail in Manchester I was informed that I could have booked the whole trip, train and ferry from Manchester, at a lower rate than I did on line. But what I didn't realize at the time was that I had booked a 'club class' fare. It was very nice but a standard fare passage would have been just as fine. The ferry was fast, only about one and a half ho...

Hey, so today was the first real day after the jetlag that is. Went out with some girls to the pub last night, it was called the Corner Flag and there was a guy playing a guitar and singing bad American pop music. We left after a pint and when a pop/techno version of Stand By Your Man started to be played. Some guy at the pub managed to spill three Guinesses on himself and his wife/girlfriend/friend. It was pretty funny. Anyway, woke up at 8 this morning, went to break...

Here I am eating breakfast in Dublin, Ireland. This is my first time here in this place. The breakfast was delightful. I think i had the best croissants in my entire life ( sorry Germany ). The morning was good, Blake is still asleep but I told him I would wake him up at 10. Not too sure what to do today. I'm not even sure if I will attend mass. When we're on a short schedule like this, there is soo much you want to see not regret! I can hear the wind blowing hard outside my window, I t...

About 10 miles from where I live in Ardsbeg, Gortahork, Donegal, is the magical village of Dunlewey (or Dún Luiche in Gaelic - meaning the Dún or fort of Lúgh). The village is small, really a ribbon on buildings including a good garage, McGeady's pub a large new Youth Hostel and a fascinating place called the Dunlewey Centre which includes a café (basic but wholesome if you stay off the fries!) an excellent crafts shop, a farmyard, weaving exhibitions, boat trips on the lake and a newly a...

Its Saturday the 6th of September, nine days before I head off. I'm at home packing up my house. I've tenants moving in for a year while I'm away so packing all my gear away in boxes to ship it over to my parents who are doing me a huge favour by storing it all for me. It feels really weird to think of somebody else living here and being really honest I hate the thought of it, but if it pays the mortgage while I'm off enjoying myself then it'll should be worth it... John and I have been in Dublin for 36 hours. We were jet lagged for the first 30. I think we finally feel somewhat normal. Dublin is ok. We already changed our plans and cancelled our jaunt to the Irish countryside and instead we're headed to LONDON!! We just weren't feelin' the drive to Kenmare or the slow pace of the Irish countryside. We're still trying to downshift and get used to the new pace.We have walked around a lot. I had a half pint of cide...

I woke up Sunday and made my way to the free bread, jam and juice the Isacc had to offer. After the light breakfast I check out and headed out to tour the city. I did not have much time to explore until my flight out in the evening. I headed out onto the streets that were a lot less crowded then the night before. As I was walking to take the tour bus I notice that the streets were littered with the evidence of the previous nights events. I was on the first tour bus of the day and was exc...
