Beautiful views of the green lands flanking the Euphrates River are hindered by the constant threat of small arms fire and roadside bombs. Although travel here is free (you actually get paid to travel here), it is not recommended. If you are thinking about going over as a contractor, don't do it. I'd go with a uniform on, that's it. No amount of money is worth you ending up on Al Jazeera with a knife to your throat and Mujahadeen standing behind you with AKs and RPGs. If you are going with a uniform on, have fun and stay safe.
