The best summary of Iowa City is a typical Midwestern college town. There are some great cheap places to eat, bar specials every night, and always a college atmosphere. Any night of the week, the main bars along Clinton Street and the Ped Mall will be crawling with students out for a good time. Kinnick Stadium is an experience any fan of college football would love. Watch out for the cops inside bars if you are underage, especially since it is only 19 to get into bars.

Iowa city acted as the state capital before the 1850's when the capital was moved to Des Moines. The Iowa City downtown is in the shadow of five stone buildings known as the pentacrest which used to serve as state government buildings and are now owned and used by the University of Iowa.

Iowa City has typical midwestern winters, with quite a bit of snow especially in January, and the wind is always blowing. The summers tend to be hot and humid, but the plus side to that wind, a breeze is quite refreshing. Spring tends to bring a lot of rain, and Fall's are quite pleasant, with the leaves changing colours.
