Derry or Londonderry has a strong link to the past. The City has been inhabited since prehistoric times being on an island in the middle of the majestic River Foyle which provided defence and food stuffs. The original name of the city was Calgach which became Doire Columcille with the monastic settlement of St. Columb in 521A.D. from which date the city takes it’s origins.
