Ioannnina is the capital of the NorthWest region of Greece with a great background of history and culture! The town is a true sight center; as exaggerated as it may be seen, the lake island of Ioannina is one of the world's few lake-islands to be inhabitated, whereas the local castle constitutes a discrete municipal region of the town, with many residents and households!
Regarding the night life of Ioannina, every traveller will be amazed! Besides the natives, a large number of students (University of Ioannina is one of the most famous in Greece) entertain -almost on a daily basis- in various ways (from cinemas to Greek bouzoukia)! From taking a walk around the lake, under the sycamores, to boat cruising along Pamvotis lake, visting Ioannina is certainly a memorable experience!

As I was born and raised in Ioannina for many years, I must admit I am quite emotionally connected with this beautiful city! Ioannina is the capital of Epirus, built on the west coast of Pamvotida lake! The island of the lake is the only habitable island in a lake worlwide and you can take a boat tour over the lake whenever you want! If you decide to visit the island, be sure to taste the local food specialty; that is frog legs (don't worry, it tastes like chicken)!!!

Ioannina, Greece -› Athens, Greece -› ...
This was a special trip for me. My dear friend Amy and I set out on a two week mission to see some of the Greek Islands and the little village Ioannina where my grandparents were born in Northern Greece. It was the first time I had traveled just winging it and the first time Amy had ever traveled abroad. The only resevations we had for lodging were in Athens and Ioannina which was at the end of the trip. Everyting else we just discovered along the way which made for a great adventure.
