Good place to stay in London Jul 24, 2011
International Student House is located near Regent´s Park and just across the street from Great Portland Street tube station. Regent´s Park tube station is right around the corner.

ISH is available for short and long term accommodation and not only for students. It is a hostel with plain accommodation, but it´s nice and clean. They offer dorm rooms, triple, double and single rooms with either shared facilities or en-suit.

When I checked in I was given a number of coupon. One for breakfast worth ₤2,55. If you order for more, you just pay the additional. Breakfast was served in the cafeteria downstairs. Second coupon was for 15 minutes of free internet access pr stay. There are 4 computers in the reception lounge. If you bring your own laptop WI-FI is free of charge. If not, internet access cost ₤1/₤10/₤15 for 1 hr/1 day/1 week. The third coupon was for the bar. You get 2 drinks for the price of 1. Yeah!!! Then they gave me a fabric bag with one towel, a bar of soap, a plastic glass and a paper bath mat. Finally I was given the key card to my room, which I had to pay a L10 deposit for. With all the coupons, papers and bag I was off to my room (517). The girl in the reception had been nice and informative.

If you need an electronic safe, you can rent one in the reception. They are located next to the ATM by the entrance. The fee is ₤3/₤7/₤15 for 1 day/1 week/31 days.

Every door you go through from the reception, through the corridors and to your room you have to use the key card. At first I thought “what a hassle”, but then it´s actually a good security system. To get to the rooms is close to impossible unless you are staying there.

Room 517 was a good sized room with two single beds. The mattress was a bit soft and the pillow very firm. The room was also equipped with a desk, a chair, a chest of drawers, lots of wardrobe space, two rubbish bins, an AC and a fridge. The latter was either warm or a freezer. I only missed a lamp or some kind of light by the desk. The only thing I did not like was that there were no proper windows in my room. I prefer fresh air to AC. Being on the top floor there was a window in the ceiling, but this could not be opened.

The bathroom was small, but had what you needed, a toilet and a shower. Hair dryer can be borrowed in the reception. Both the room and the bathroom were cleaner than any of the hotels I have stayed in, in London.

Each floor has recycle bins and selves for messages. There is also a communal kitchen on each floor equipped with a kettle and a microwave. You have to provide cups, plates and cutlery yourself.

The bar is on the ground floor and serve super cheap drinks. When I was there, they had live music. Different activities are organized every day. In the basement there is a well equipped gym. They also have conferences at the ISH and on Sundays there is a free movie night.

Check in time is 12:30 pm and check out 10 am. If you need to leave your luggage for the day, you can do so at the storage room next to the reception and the charge is ₤1 a day.

At the time of writing the ISH is renovating the 5th floor, which means that there are very few single and double rooms.

ISH is far from posh, but the location is convenient and prices are very reasonable for London. I would stay there again.

Rates valid from the 5th June 2011 until 31st August 2011 are:

Single/single en-suite: ₤39/₤44

Twin/Twin en-suite: ₤31/₤34

Triple: ₤27

Four bed: ₤25

Dormitory (6 to 10 beds): ₤19
ATM and electronic safes
Guest computers w/printer

ISH- The perfect choice Jul 17, 2011
International Student House in London is the perfect place to stay while visiting. It's located right next to two tube stops that will get you anywhere you need to go. The walk from there to Piccadilly Circus is very pleasant and it's also right across the street from beautiful Regents Park. There's a bar as well as a night club on the weekends located right inside the main building. The staff there is very friendly and fun, the rooms are standard for a hostel and are clean. The food in the restaurant is delicious and you will definitely have a good time and meet great people!

It's a great place to stay. it's mainly for students who are pursuing studies, but you tend to get rooms available for non students too. i have stayed there so many times and it has been impeccable. very clean, lovely people, great location. they have a nice cafe downstairs.they have a chill out room with TV. they also have a minibar in the campus.there are Gym and Table tennis boards, but you have to pay for it.
