La Regate des Baignoires Aug 15, 2010
The International Bathtub Regatta is held every year in Dinant. The Church and Citadel overlook a stream of converted bathtubs, slowly racing down the calm and wide Meuse River.

Each year has its own theme (this year was "Leffe and history", as the Leffe Abbey / Brewery lies just outside Dinant), but the only real rule is that each craft must be based around a bathtub. Even this rule was marginal, as a few of the floating contraptions seem to just have had a tub plonked on the deck.

With a day full of rain, all the participants started out resigned to getting soaked, and gladly threw themselves or each other overboard during the race, often with a beer in hand. A few of the bathtubs even had an on-tub bar!
