Theft and Poor Customer Service Jul 10, 2009
Room service stole my blackberry from our locked hotel room-The Americas Guest Services department said that since it wasn't in a safe they weren't responsible for their employee taking it. Really? Are they somehow exempt from laws against theft? Three people at the hotel including a supervisor of security and member of management all said they would call back after reviewing the situation-that was two weeks ago-----nothing has happenned. Also-they don't mention that you'll be charged something like $15 a day for services including towels and internet. As for the internet-we never had a connection. We complained about that the 1st day and as apparently is their standard practice they said they'd have someone called to fix it but never did. The cable also never had a clear picture the entire time we were there. Of course, we requested someone check on that and again were told it would be resolved but it never was. BTW, the casino is exceptionally small.

This great hotel is located in the area called "Isla Verde", which is part of the San Juan metropolitan area. This area is best known for its many hotels, beaches, and restaurants. The InterContinental San Juan is just one of many exceptional hotels in Isla Verde.
The entrance to the hotel, before the lobby, is filled with palm trees and lush vegetation. After passing through this part, you get to the main entrance of the building. It has a nice waterfall, producing a relaxing sound. Very courteous hotel workers greet visitors and lead them to the reception desk. The lobby is very cozy, with many comfortable chairs and sofas. The service is pretty good at the desk, and you quickly get transferred to your room. To the left part of the lobby is the casino, full of fun, yet addictive slot machines and other similar games. The hotel is well-known for its excellent restaurants. Two of them include Momoyama, serving Japanese cuisine, and Ruth Chris's Steak House, dishing up amazing steaks. Momoyama is a great Japanese restaurant, complete with a sushi bar, normal tables, and teppanyaki tables. The sushi is pretty good, but the best fare here is in the teppanyaki menu. You can eat scallops, salmon, chicken, and steak (choice of 2), with fried or steamed rice. Apart from that, the price includes a salad, a soup of your choice and an ice cream. This joint is absolutely amazing! Ruth Chris's Steak House serves delicious steaks, with a juicy taste. These are simply fantastic! The rooms at the InterContinental are very clean, and include the usual bathroom, with a modern toilet and shower. The beds are very comfortable, and the views are of the city or the ocean. These rooms are very nice. The pool here is very nice, too. It includes a water-volleyball net, imitation rock formations, a jacuzzi, and spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. The bar serves up great, refreshing drinks. On the beach, you could surf, para-sail, or just relax and get a sun-tan. This hotel has so much to offer, it's simply amazing! |
