Perfect location for the Bay to Breakers race Jun 15, 2011
Stayed here prior to the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco. Awesome location; right at the beginning of the race. Good hotel. Was able to join in the festivities from the main door of the hotel.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway Aug 01, 2010
I stayed at this hotel last summer and took advantage of the "California Staycation" package. They offered: free breakfast, a deluxe room and valet parking for about $88. What a deal!
This was the first 5-star hotel that I had stayed at in America and I was impressed with the quality. The hotel had been recently built and all the furnishings were brand new. Flat screen TV, modern appliances, beatiful bathroom etc. The service was very good, although not of the quality that I have received in other parts of the world. What I liked about it most was they offered this package to California residents. It was a package designed for locals. As if the hotel was saying "Come, enjoy luxury for a weekend, forget about your weekly troubles". It was a very clever marketing tool and it allowed San Franciscans to take a bit of a vacation without having to leave the city. In reality the gourmet breakfast and valet parking would have cost $88 by itself! We were able to enjoy the nightlife of the city and not have to worry about cabs or any other hassle. I really appreciated the idea and if I ever had the opportunity to stay at an Intercontinental hotel again, I would. Overall: an amazing value and a beautiful hotel. If you ever come to San Francisco I would recommend this property. Location is convenient, staff is friendly and its a beautiful, modern property. |

Ballin' Hotel in Downtown 'Frisco Sep 04, 2008
This hotel is GORGEOUS! But pricey, people. Let's not forget the number one rule of ballers: you gotta drop it like it's hot. Live large or go home. There are many hotels in San Francisco that are more expensive and even more that are less. I would recommend this hotel to someone who doesn't mind living on the edge of a dodgy neighbourhood (don't go for walks at night more than one block west or south of the hotel!!)
This hotel seemed to be a popular choice for conferences and there were some families staying there as well. The hotel's restaurant, Luce is very nice with a limited selection of dishes (but all are done very well - the steak is wonderful!!) and the hotel bar is rather typical. As far as I'm aware the hotel has a pool and gym but I didn't have time to check them out with all the things there are to see and do in San Francisco. The staff at the hotel were awesome and very helpful and got to know us even though we were only there for four days. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't mind being two blocks away from Union Square and a $6-$8 cab ride from the popular bars on Columbus.
