The Inn at USC (University of South Carolina) Feb 02, 2007
The Inn at USC (University of South Carolina) is directly across the street from the University of South Carolina’s campus. The Inn is operated by the university, but you don’t have to be an official campus visitor to stay there. Anyone may book a room, and it is a very convenient and pleasant place to stay in Columbia. Ample parking is provided in back of the Inn.
The Inn is locatd in a residential and campus neighborhood and is built around a historic house. The outside facade retains its gracious appointments, but the inside has been expanded and remodeled into a modern hotel, with a few of the original rooms remaining. The front desk staff, largely students, make one feel welcome and can offer many tips on places to see and places to eat around Columbia. Complementary coffee, hot tea, iced tea (both unsweetened and Southern “sweetea”), lemonade, and cookies are always provided in the lobby. A complimentary breakfast is served in the Palmetto Room.
If you are visiting the University of South Carolina campus, the Visitor Center is right across Pendleton Street. Columbia is the state capitol, and the State House and office buildings are within walking distance and museums and historic sites are nearby. Both the Koger Center for the Performing Arts and the Colonial Center for sports events are also within walking distance of the Inn. (The football stadium is some distance away.) In fact, you might find a visiting sports team staying at the Inn.
Rooms are spacious, quiet, and comfortable. Highly recommended!
Room rates are comparable to staying at suite-style hotel, but specials and discounts (including a campus visitor discount) are avaible.) Check in adavance.
