Inn at Churon Winery Temecula Reviews
Perfect Location & Accommodation in Temecula Wine Country Apr 11, 2010
The Inn at Churon Winery in Temecula, CA is located at the beginning of Temecula's Wine Country (driving in Eastbound). It looks like a French Chateau from the outside. The inside of the lobby has high ceilings. I found it a little stuffy inside the lobby area upon my arrival. It was quite hot outside and the air conditioning did not seem to work well in the lobby area--perhaps it was due to the high ceilings?
I stayed in one of the two Deluxe Suites for 3 days, 2 nights. There were 3 fire places, a living room/sitting area and a private balcony with a view of the vineyard. The Deluxe Suites cost about $250-$450 per night. The jacuzzi bathtub was one of the best features of the Deluxe Suite. The King bed was very comfortable and the linens were upscale, clean and plush. The breakfast room service food I ordered was better than dinner in my opinion. Their mimosas were excellent.
Any of the Suites at the Inn would be an ideal room for a romantic weekend getaway. Some of the other suites range in price from $250 to $395 per night. You may be able to get better rates in less touristy times of year.
The Inn at Churon is secluded and has a limited amount of guest rooms (approx. 20 non-Suite rooms). From my observation the non-Suite rooms seem to be on the small side. The non-Suite guest rooms range from $179-$295 per night. Their website states that there are 19 Vineyard View Rooms. If you book a Vineyard View Room I would recommend making sure it was a view of the front vineyard that you see in front of the Inn. Technically the other non-Suite "Vineyard View" rooms have a view of Vineyards but that also includes a not-so-scenic view of the back parking lot.
At night the Vineyards and gazebo area are lit up with sparkling white lights...Once again, great for a romantic getaway. One of the nights I was there the lights were out. I ventured down into the vineyard without lights--bad idea!. If you do venture into the vineyard at night, bring a flashlight! **I have no idea if you are allowed to be in the vineyard to begin with** ;)
I had the Prix Fixe Wine Paring dinner. The food & wine were excellent. The only negative aspect to my dining experience at the restaurant was the waitstaff's service...or lack of. My waitress didn't describe all of the wines and displayed little, to no enthusiasm about wine. Come to think of it she didn't seem to have much enthusiasm for anything!! :)
For the majority of the dinner I had no idea which wine I was drinking, or which wine went to what menu item. I found this strange because usually this would be an opportunity for a winery (especially a small one) to market their wines so customers would buy some to take home!
I would recommend the Inn at Churon Winery if you want to splurge in Temecula Wine Country.
