Inn Lodge Portsmouth Reviews
The hidden hotel - Inn lodge Sep 28, 2013
We arrive pretty late in Portsmouth trying to get a room at the first hotel we arrive at. Unfortunately they are fully booked but are quite helpful in calling another hotel - the Innlodge to hear if they got a room for a night. And they do have a room. So from here it should be easy - just type in the address in the GPS and then find the hotel. Or this was the original plan which soon went sour.
The hotel got is in an industrial area so it hasn’t actually got a street number - just a postal code. Hence when you try to type in the address of the hotel in a GPS you can only put down the street and the number isn’t available. So we get to the street with the hotel - unfortunately it is a very long street through an industrial area. At the first attempt we get to the street and then drive down the road to find the hotel - it doesn’t seem to be there. Hence we turn around and go into a local pub and ask where the hotel is - they give some sort of direction - just go down the street and eventually it will show up on your left. This didn’t work out well - we didn’t find the hotel. So we went back to the pub and asked for direction one more time. They gave slightly different direction - we tried to follow them but this didn’t work out either.
After getting stuck somewhere in the industrial area we finally give up and go back to the hotel where we got directions in the first place to ask if they can provide a map which hopefully should enable us to find the hotel. With our new map we try searching for the hotel one more time - and once again without any success. Finally we give up and start searching for another hotel and just as the GPS gives us the coordinates for another hotel it takes us pass no other place than the Innlodge. Finally we found the hotel after a couple of hours driving around the industrial parts of Portsmouth. When we get in we ask the receptionist if something like this has ever occurred before and he says this happens on a regular basis and he has several times tried to be on the phone for 20-30 minutes explaining the direction - since the lack of a specific street number makes it impossible to put in the location in a GPS and only people really knowledgeable about the layout of Portsmouth will ever find the location.
When we finally get the room it turns out it is fairly big with a big bed and a table and chairs at the window. There are the usual flat screen television as well and a desk if you want to do some work. The bathroom is pretty good as well and all in all the room is good value for money. But the location in itself makes this hotel unsuitable for people not very familiar with the area.

Nice Room but Bad location Sep 28, 2013
We actually get nightmare to find this place at night time, since the location is not recognise in the car GPS and we go around and around for maybe a couple of hours and we almost give up and decided to go to another hotel or move to another city, when we accidently stumble across this place – finally, and it was almost mid night when we arrive at the hotel.
Probably it was our fault, since we did not book anything when we arrive in the city and we thought it would be easy to find any type of accommodation – since we have a car and it depend of how much we want to pay for the room for the night, but this is not the case since the hotel we want to stay was fully book and we do not want to pay over £100 per night for a room in this city. Anyway, we were lucky enough there is room available at this lodge – which was booked from the receptionist from the other hotel, who has been kindly helpful calling other available hotel on our behalf.
Unfortunately the hotel does not have the exact street address or number and it only has a postal code number, and the GPS get headache with this and could not locate it. We had asked several people about the address on the way to the hotel – some people recognise the hotel and gives direction – which was fruitless and we still could not find the place.
Anyway, after we find the hotel and park the car at the hotel huge parking space, we go inside to find a big lobby with plenty of sofa chairs to seat in, the reception was friendly and helpful especially after hearing our story about how difficult it was to find this hotel. The check in was easy and quick and we get the room at the ground floor.
We did not expect much for the room, however we get a little surprise when we find out the room was clean, big and very nice with one double bed, a table and a couple of chairs and a window facing the garden. The usual modern amenities included such as flat screen television, big desk to do some work, telephone, and in addition to this, free tea and coffee with kettle on the desk ready to be use.
The bathroom is spacious and clean, the towels was thick and fluffy and plenty of it – face towels, hand towels, and body towels. Soap and shampoo provided and plenty of tissue as well.
There one big restaurant inside the hotel which cater for breakfast, lunch and dinner – also available for room delivery. We had breakfast here in the morning and after that we wonder around the place and there is one big function room at the end of the hallway which cater for seminar and also wedding.
We found the place is really good value for money except the location which is nowhere – the room itself cost £60 per night without breakfast.
