I had never had REAL peruvian food before the day i went to Inka's in the summer of 2007. To be honest, I have forgotten the names of all the dishes I had, but I remember that my favorite was a lightly-cooked shellfish (shrimp, mussells, scallops, and squid) with a pleasant citrus-onion aroma and taste. Inka's also has all the staple Peruvian Beers as well as Chicha Morada (a non-carbonated Purple Corn Drink). I personally wasn't a fan of the Chicha, but no virgin Peruvian culinary experience should lack the national beverage of Peru!

What's even more interesting...the owner/cook is a chinese man who immigrated from China to Peru and lived there for twenty years before moving to San Francisco. The waiter (his son) spoke three languages (English, Spanish, and Cantonese) depending on the clientele.

Overall, this was the culinary high point of my trip to San Francisco. Skip the Clam Chowder and head to the Mission District!
