It was the tail end of my European Packpacking trip 2004. Scores of people died in France and Spain from the record setting heat. The last two months were unbearable with the sun beating on my already scorched forehead while my shirt was plastered to my sweaty back. I was in desperate need for something different, something cooler. I remember my college roommate spinning yarns about his uncle who owned a bar in Galway, Ireland, Hughes'. So I hopped on Ryain Air to Ireland, Galway to be exact.
