Ingleton Overview

The Ingleton being reviewed here is just off the main road from Leeds to the Lake District, west of Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. (The map accompanying this shows a different Ingleton!) It is a very pleasant Dales village and has an outdor swimming pool but its claim to fame is a walk, regrettably one of the very few if not the only one in the Yorkshire Dales for which there is a charge. It is known as 'The Ingleton Waterfalls Walk' and particularly after rain some of the falls are spectacular by British standards.

The rivers Twiss and Doe join at Ingleton and the walk involves going up one and then crossing to the other on a public footpath below Twistleton Scars (if you have a diversion here to look at the scars and then drop to Chapel-le-Dale and back on the minor road by the church until you meet the footpath mentioned above at Beezley's farm, you will certainly not be disappointed.)

http://www.jbutler.org.uk/Miscellaneous/Ingleton/IngletonWaterfalls.shtml shows great photos of the walk.
