Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi Reviews
The 'New' New Delhi Airport Sep 13, 2012
Delhi was in need of a world class airport for many many years. The Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi finally came into operation about a year ago . It sure was a big relief for both Indian & International travelers to board & arrive at a modern & comfortable airport.
Airports are normally very important in any travelers opinion. The new airport is quite large , it is the 6th largest airport in the world now and the busiest in India. It is primarily for international travel but also has a domestic part for full service domestic airlines.
The airport is well equipped and efficient . Baggage handling is also efficient . It feels large & a bit grandiose with its fully carpeted floors . The waiting area after security is also large & well equipped to take care of a travelers needs from duty free shops ( though mostly designer stuff ) & traditional Indian artifacts for the foreign traveler . There are various options of having a bite or a drink while waiting for your boarding call .
The only downside of a large airport is the long walk to your boarding gate if its on the other end !!
