Remembering the History of Sacrifice May 06, 2011
Constructed from 1926 through 1965,the World War Memorial Plaza Historic District located in Indianapolis commemorates the veterans of World Wars I and II. It was built with Indiana Limestone, based on the mausoleum of Mausolus. I visited the Military museum which is a must see. The American Legion headquarters lies within as well, the monument is made of gold and the eagle, quite impressive to see. An obelisk and water fountains grace the plaza, adding beauty to it all.
