Indiana Cottage May 12, 2013
Indiana Cottages name made me laugh a bit in the beginning. I imagined a place in the middle of the jungle, some ruins and Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) running being chased by locals… Location of the place is really nice, just across the bamboo bridge and over the river that goes through Pai. When you are coming from the bus station, just keep walking left of it until you get to the Wat and then turn left towards the river. You will pass nice place called Eatable Jazz (spent some nights there) and then you will see the river and bridge that looks and feels a bit shaky, but it is perfectly sound to cross (just people, no motorcycles, and bikes are ok if pushed). AS soon as you get off the bridge there are two places to stay in and we chose the right one which was Indiana. They have many bamboo bungalows, but also some adobe building looking places next to the river. We choose a absolutely beautiful room that cost us 300 baht and had huge bed with mosquito netting and smaller one on the side. Prices range from 200-400, depending of the place and size. Inside of the place is made very nicely with rounded corners, some wood implemented in the floor and colored with nice pastel colors. Mattress and the bed were made to bond into each other and that mosquito net was making it look so beautiful and dreamy. I think I am going to make something similar for my next room.

Bathroom was especially nice and kind of outside of the building, in the room without roof (for the most part) and really cool setting of the plants, shower and the toilet. Doors and windows are a bit rackety which is ok with the style of the place, but I was a bit worried about security and my goodies. Main door area locked by the big lock that you get at the reception but anyone can just pool it a bit stronger and that’s about key that you need.

Sunsets and sunrises are magical in this area, and you can imagine sitting on the bank of the river (a bit dirty for my taste, but that’s probably because it was dry season) and watching sun bouncing from the water surface.

Only negative thing about the place was the owner. She is a lady boy that has so many “serious” issues that she has to talk about with anyone who will listen… It was not my thing to listen about the ways to suck you know what, and sad stories how she feels like boys are using her for experiences… but I could not avoid it because internet was good only in the main area around the reception. Anyway, it was disgusting at the times, and I am not easily disgusted.

Place also features free coffee and tea, and again that internet could be reached mainly in the area of the reception. Good place to stay but the whole valley is full of the amazing places.
