Imperial Hotel Taipei

I've stayed here a few times for work, extended stays usually, including February and April, 2009.

The Imperial Hotel is one of the more popular hotels for tour groups visiting Taipei. The hotel is located on Linsen North Road, in the north-western part of the city. It is conventiently located to the highway and a decent walk to the Danshui MRT line (Yuanshan station).

Hotel rooms are decent and the hotel is nicely furnished. There are a number of restautants in the hotel, and the hotel bar also serves very nice Thai food. Breakfast is a very good buffet with a nice mix of western and eastern fare. You should time your arrival for earlier or later in the cycle as the peak times get very crowded with the tour groups.

Internet is available in the rooms (wired). I believe there is a charge for this, though it was included in my company's corporate rate.

There are quite a few restaurants, shops and bars surrounding the hotel, including a couple of expat catering bars on the road just north of the hotel. Be careful on this street however, because aside from Malibu West and My Place, most of the other bars are part of Taipei's once thriving "Combat Zone" which is likely not what you are looking for...
