Imlil is a small village in the Atlas mountain, at around 1700m, an hour driving from Marrakesh. It's a perfect starting point for a trek in the Atlas Mountain, whether you go for a week trek or a two day trek to the Toubkal, the highest summit the Atlas muntains.

A couple of hotels or hostels available to stay for the night, the usual shops, and the "bureau des guides" where you can ask for guides for your trek.

The village is mainly organised around a main street, leading from the entrance of the village, where you can find a car park, to the top of the village.

We arrived in High Atlas mountains of North Africa, in a 4 wheel drive vehicle, taking us up through the Toubkal Massif region in Imlil.  A  berber man waiting for us with his mule to carry our luggage to the Douar Samra, our riad ( about 50m by walking right going up the hill) and we passed by ancient berber villages, built with a pise clawed from the mountain slopes, tucked away in arguably valley in the Kingdom of Morocco - Imlil walking thru big rocks, also! ...

Now it's on to Imlil, a small village in the Atlas mountains, where we will stay in a mountain gite.  The trip to the village involves a 45 minute hike or if one is lazy like me, a mule ride.  Since we arrived near dark, there wasn't much to do other than eat dinner, play cards or go to bed by eight!  Which I did.  The men, however, did have the option of using the hamman, or public bath. Wesley was a bit apprehensive at first but must have liked it because he returne...

It is 3 days long from Aremd village in the High Atlas Mountains. Aremd is the closest village to Mount Toubkal and it is here where you will be based for this hiking tour to the villages of high atlas mountain. In the village, which is about 2 hours drive from Marrakech, then a 40 minute walk, you will stay at a local guest house. Facilities are great, and welcome are genuine and friendly. www.walkinginmorocco.com

Being in morocco is a culture shock for european people. You can't feel lonely there because your "new local friends" are right behind you waiting for a good moment to offer you anything you want... Of course for a "really good price"! Anyway i must say: this country is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.
