We went to the Malacanang of the North (house of the Marcoses), Vigan, Baluarte (Chavit Singson's very own zoo), and of course, Paoay Church. I just love old churches. We stayed in Fort Ilocandia, a 5-star resort/hotel with friendly staff, great rooms, and high prices (!). =)

If one will travel via bus line or a private vehicle a trip to Ilocos Norte will usually take 12-14 hours. A plane ride will be the best suggestion from Manila to Ilocos Norte since it will only take 1 hr 15-30 mins. :)

Ilocos Norte is noted for being the birthplace of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos, who led an authoritarian rule over the country during the latter half of his incumbency. The Marcoses enjoy a modicum of popularity in the province. Ilocos Norte is also known as a northern tourist destination, being the location of Fort Ilocandia, an upper class beach resort famous among expatriates, and Pagudpud.
