If you are visiting the Panthon, take the opportunity to take a peek inside the Jesuit Church of Il Gesu which is located only a few hundred feet away. There are a lot of impressive churchs in Rome, but the gaudy, golden interior of this one really blew me away when I first saw it. It is located in the center of a busy intersection and the inhabitants of Rome aren't famed for their driving, so be careful when crossing the street to get here!

I began my trip to Italy in the beautiful city of Rome. Me, my mother and her best friend met a friend of mine who is stationed in Naples at an Army base at the airport. We had our first experience with Italian food and the train system.…Il Gesu Basilica was our next stop. My best memory of this basilica is the painting that you will see if you walk in the main entrance and stop halfway up the aisle, then look directly over head. It's as if heaven… Rome |
