Tuscania is a beautiful, historic town situated right at the heart of the Tuscia, just 90 minutes north of Rome (although the name sounds like Tuscany this is not Tuscany). It has a stunning medieval walled centre and there are extensive Roman and Etruscan remains in the vicinity, including a section of the Via Clodia. Rome, Tivoli, Orvieto, Perugia, Assisi and Siena are all within reach for day trips, as are the archaeological sites at Cerveteri, Tarquinia and Vulci. Beautiful Lake Bolsena with its many...(see more) beaches is 15 minutes away and the coastal beaches at Tarquinia, Montalto di Castro and the Argentario are just a little further afield. Il Carretto can be found in a quiet square in the oldest part of the walled centre of Tuscania. The house dates from the Middle Ages and offers guests spacious, character accommodation in double or triple bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The rooms have been carefully and tastefully furnished to a high standard. There is free parking in the square directly outside the house and many excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk, so there is never a problem for your eveing meal.
