Ikebana Salinas Reviews
Filler Upper Nov 09, 2010
If you don't keep your eyes peeled while driving down Main Street in Salinas you'll miss the entrance to this jewel of a restaurant. When you manage to enter the parking entrance and take a short walk to the main entrance, you'll find someone greeting you with the common Japanese welcoming greeting. The dining area is very spacious and has a warm atmosphere. The waiter/waitress is ready to take your order as soon as you're ready. Prompt and great service.
The food soon arrives, and is it a lot! I've lived in Japan and never had such big portions. Believe me when I say this, you're stomach will be ready to burst with just one order of the 'makis'. This is California influenced cuisine so it's no surprise that the portions are big. But before your entree arrives, you get miso soup and I highly recommend trying their appetizers.
Ikebana is a great place to go with family and/or friends, either small or large group I'm sure they will accommodate properly. They have a very large selection of maki and sashimi; they also have complete diner plates with yakitori, salad etc. for those people that are not fans of sushi.
By the time you (try) to walk out of the restaurant you'll be smiling with the cool Salinas breeze.
