Incredible country, exciting, thousands of contrasts

I am riding my motorbike from London, UK to home, Adelaide, Australia. I will be heading south to Sicily, Italy and then making way across towards Turkey. Then head down through Iran, Pakistan and India. From there I will try to make it into South East Asia. Hope to put motorbike on a ship from Dili, East Timor to Darwin. Departure Date 4th August 2008.

Almost 20-day road trip in the Aegean and Mediterranean Regions of the most beautiful country of Euroasia: Turkey :))

During May/June 2008, I took my first vacation to the Middle East area. Jordan was amazing - I got to see some historical sites such as Petra, Jesus' Baptism site, the Dead Sea and the Wadi Rum Desert. Then we moved on to Turkey where we saw the ancient Nemrut Dagi statues, the ruins of Ephesus, Oludeniz Beach (and some paragliding), Pamukkale white terraces, the famous rock formations of Cappadocia, and of course, the amazing city of Istanbul. The trip exceeded all expectations!

I booked a tour through the pension that included a visit to the panorama viewpoint, the Derinkuyu underground city, a hike in the Ihlara valley, the Selime cathedral and Uçhisar onyx shop all for 50 YTL. I had planned to just go to Derinkuyu by public transportation but that alone would have cost…
