Iguana Island Reviews
Catamaran to Iguana Island May 01, 2011
Cayo Largo, a Cuban island measuring 27km long and 3km wide is known for it's white sand beaches and a natural haven to wildlife such as sea turtles and pelicans. But just a short catamaran trip away in the middle of a beautiful ocean sits Iguana Island, a must see for anyone travelling to this part of Cuba! The catamaran trips via the hotels, allow a chance for snorkeling, lobster dinner, sunset cruising and a great stop at Iguana Island.
Iguana Island is a small island off the coast of Cayo Largo which is home to hundreds if not thousands of amazing Iguanas. Some as large as your shoe, some as large as a 3 year old child, but amazing none the less. The Catamaran will dock on this island for approximately an hour giving you the opportunity to roam free amongst these intimidating creatures. They advise you refrain from feeding and I would advise the same - though they spend most of their time lounging and soaking in the sun, they are also very quick footed and ill tempered from time to time. For those not comfortable roaming around beside them, the view too from the dock is incredible!
So for those with a little sense of adventure who are looking for fun and excitement - Iguana Island is the place to see!!
