Although we got up as early as other days we seemed to be slower in getting started today. We had a pretty good breakfast at the hotel, consisting of scrambled egg patties, bacon, juice, and coffee, and I even went back and got a bowl of cereal with milk. So we weren’t on the road until nearly 9 a.m..
Spokane is pretty near the border to Idaho, so we got our first picture in about fifteen minutes. Then on over to Couer D’Alane before heading north to Bonner’s ...

Well, I'm all packed and ready to go, we'll see you on the other side. I had my qualms about only taking carry-on luggage for my 3.5-month adventure, but everything that I needed fits and now we'll see how much better "traveling light" is. I fly to Salt Lake, then NYC, then finally London. Hope these little jet lag pills work!

Go to dinner at a small dinner theatre called Mountain River Ranch (http://www.mountainriverranch.com/map.html) - it is truly a winter wonderland as you are taken on a horse-drawn sleigh ride down a narrow lane through the woods with the sound of Christmas carols sung by your dinner guests (and yourself!) and the trail is lit with tiny twinkling lights and the bells on the horses' harnesses are jingling along as they glide with ease across the snow-covered ground. It is one of the ...

I was so happy to be in snow since in Boise we don’t get snow like the Mountains. The snow here in McCall is ridiculous, there’s so much of it…everywhere. I thought Diesel would enjoy the snow, but I didn’t think he’d go crazy, he bounds back and forth leaping through the snow, he LOVES it. I have boots for him because I don’t want his little (actually they’re huge) feet to get cold and also, they get all cut up and bloody from the snow if he’s not wearing the boots. He wears ...

One of the few things I enjoy about living in Idaho is caving. The area is covered in an ancient lava flow that makes the surface very rough and hot! Below ground is a different world unlike the harsh one above. It is MUCH cooler and has frozen ice crystals to look at. It can also be very dangerous. A guide is essential. DO NOT attempt to explore caves yourself! You can get lost and seriously injured or killed. There are underground rivers that melt and freeze. It can trap you in the ca...

I used Coeur d'Alene, Idaho as a stopping point for night's rest after a few days in Glacier and Waterton Lakes National Parks. I was returning for a morning flight out of Spokane, Washington and thought that this little resort town looked like a more interesting to place to stay than Spokane. I was pleasantly surprised. The town sits on the banks/hillsides of beautiful Coeur d'Alene lake (I regret that I didn't take any pictures here). The downtown has a nice med...

I am genuinely grateful
I am alive to give you greetings,
This is a
somewhat different update, but an update nonetheless. I almost died on Tuesday May 8 of 2007 due to
a rather stupid kayaking adventure, and it was only by God’s grace, power, and
desire for my life to continue that I am here writing to you today. I am a witness to the truth our Lord still
performs in the miraculous.

Hi All,
Dave and I wanted to have you share in our trip this year as we travel. As I am new to this I have a feeling that there will be a learning curve. Will try to have some timely updates and photos. WELL, so much for timely updates. LOL We don't seem to be in WI FI world as much as I would like. Hang in there, I will keep adding at least where we have been.
Enjoy with us!

Wow. That break went fast, didn't it?? I can't believe it's already gone, and I'm back to school. Then in another few weeks, a month off! I can't wait to do nothing. I should get a job. But I haven't even attempted to look for one yet, so I probably won't have one. Anyways! So I'll get caugh up on what I did during the break. I really didn't do anything up until Thanksgiving Day. Me and my parents left at 7:30 a.m. to head up to Joseph Thursday morning, picked up my sister who stayed the nigh...

I first set out to this site with the knowdge that I had NO knowledge of where it was. This site is at the end of a closed road about a two mile hike in, according to the map. What the map doesn't say is the there are two closed roads, one that is visible and one that is completely overgrown. Kona and I started out about 2 in the afternoon, down closed road 1. We hiked to the end of the road, found a ridgline that we thought would be the best place for a radio site.&nb...

So after our epic day at Brighton we decide "Hey, if we drive all night we won't have to pay for a hotel room!" So we started on our way to Whistler. Well at like 1:00am we were staring at the map and realized that we were a mere 30min detour form Preston, Idaho; home of Napoleon Dynamite. We thought that it would be a good idea to take the city lmit sign. OF COURSE. So we did. I realize that this is a horrible example and this was horrible but it looks darn good hanging on my wall. Anyway af...

About 60 miles farther south is Paris, Idaho where we stopped shortly to get a couple of pictures of the some old buildings.
Actually we had already taken pictures of the VERY old buildings previously. Another of the finalists in the “most swaybacked building” awards category was one where we had to take several shots, and then a few semi-scenic shots of the open range. We even got a couple of more older barns.
We got a couple of pictures of Bear Lake, a good...

Martina and I kidknapped Irmgart's garden gnome, Karl, and road-tripped from Portland to Sky City, New Mexico. Started out on I-84 toward Idaho. Camped in Burley - Paul (sounds like a bad dragqueen name). Drove through Utah to camp in Moab. Visited Arches National Park, and Mesa Verde before pulling in to Sky City Casino Hotel. Visited the Pueblos, Sandia Peak, Santa Fe via the Turqouise Trail. Then back toward home via Flagstaff, Las Vegas, Death Valley, the San Joaquin, & the Siskiyous.

This was a short, emergency trip to Red Peak in Idaho. I had to helicopter in to this site to fix a radio, I hate my job, lol. I thought I had taken more pictures than this but my camera took a crap on me. I'll have to horse pack in later this year so I'll take more then.
